1st day: Marrakech - High Atlas mountains -Tizi N Tichka pass - Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah Ouarzazate
The desert tour starts from Marrakech to Fes, a 5-day tour, and includes an early pick-up from the airport or your accommodation in Marrakech. We then start our drive through the magnificent High Atlas Mountains and the Tizine Tichka Pass, where we will stop to enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views. We then continue our journey and visit the Kasbah of Tilouat, where we will explore its architectural beauty and rich history.
Next, we will visit the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a historic fortified village located in the heart of Morocco. This magnificent Kasbah has been listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and has been used as the backdrop for many popular films and TV series. After our visit to the Kasbah, we will move on to Ouarzazate, the gateway to the desert. There, we will spend the night in a comfortable hotel and prepare for the next journey.
Day 2: Ouarzazate - Palm Groves of Skoura - Kasbah Amridil - Wadi El Ward - Wadi Dades
After breakfast, we start our journey in the city of Ouarzazate, where we visit the famous Atlas Studios, which has seen the filming of many international films. Then we explore the Kasbah of Taourirt, a fortified mud castle that is considered one of the oldest and most magnificent palaces in Morocco. After that, we head east to visit the Kasbah of Amridil, which is characterized by the palm groves of Skoura. Then we continue to the famous Kalaat M’Gouna, where the Rose Festival is held annually in May, where locals display their rose products of perfumes, rose water, oil and cosmetics. Then we continue to the Dades Valley via Boumalne Dades, where we stop at unique rock formations, before arriving at our hotel in Boumalne Dades, where we will spend a comfortable night with dinner and an overnight stay in a hotel in Boumalne Dades.
Day 3 Boumalne Dades - Todgha Gorge - Erfoud - Merzouga Desert - Overnight in a luxury camp
After breakfast, we continue our journey to the Todra Gorge, discovering the natural splendor of the Todra River Valley. Then we drive through the palm groves of Trouj and Tingdad, after free time to have lunch en route. In the afternoon, we reach the great Merzouga desert, where you can ride camels and explore the sandy desert. There will be a stop to enjoy the breathtaking sunset. Then we continue the journey to the luxury desert camp, enjoying the music of Berber drums and dancing around the campfire under a wide open sky of stars. Dinner and overnight at the camp
Day 4: Explore Merzouga area - Khamilia Lake Merzouga - Erg Chebbi - Desert Oasis
An early morning wake-up is a must, to admire the beautiful sunrise, in the middle of the desert. Free time for breakfast. Then we return on camels to Merzouga, where our driver is waiting for us. Today we will spend the day exploring the Merzouga region, which is characterized by its wonderful landscapes. We will visit an old mine for the manufacture of kohl, then meet the Bedouins in their hand-woven tent. After that, we will visit the village of Khamlia, where you will enjoy Gnawa music and dance performances. Free time for lunch in one of the restaurants. Then we will walk in the palm grove, before driving to see the wild Lake Merzouga. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 5: Merzouga Dunes - Erfoud - Midelt - Cedar Forest - Ifrane - Fes
On the last day of your 5-day desert trip from Marrakech to Fes, wake up early to admire the beautiful sunrise in the middle of the desert. Free time for breakfast and then return by camel or by the camp’s 4×4 to Merzouga where your driver is waiting for you. We then leave the desert to visit Rissani, the ancient capital of Tafilalt, which is still a major trading center in the region, with a large, lively market on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. After a walk in the Rissani market, we continue to Erfoud where we visit one of the petrified marble workshops. We then continue driving along the Ziz River, stopping to enjoy a panoramic view of the Ziz Valley. Free time for lunch in Midelt. Afterwards, we continue our way to the Cedar Forest, where Barbary macaques live. Feed them while you wander through the forest. Finally, we visit Ifrane, famous for its low temperatures, snow and Alpine-style houses, before we transfer you to the airport or your accommodation in Fes, where your desert trip ends
