8 Day Morocco Essential Itinerary from Marrakech

Explore the beauty of Morocco on an enjoyable 8-day tour, where you will visit the best tourist sites in the country. Your journey begins in Marrakech, where you will explore the red city and its unique beauty. Then we drive through the High Atlas Mountains, visiting the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou and the city of Ouarzazate. Explore the great Merzouga desert and ride camels to witness the magical sunsets and sunrises. Visit the traditional market of Rissani, the city of Erfoud, and the Swiss of Morocco, Ifrane and the Cedar Forest. Explore Fez and Meknes, two of Morocco’s imperial cities, and visit the Roman ruins of Volubilis and the blue city of Chefchaouen. Finally, the tour ends in Tangier

Day 1: Marrakech - High Atlas Mountains - Kasbah Tlouat Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou Ouarzazate

Explore the beauty of the Moroccan desert on an eight-day tour, starting with your arrival in Marrakech. Then we drive through the high Atlas Mountains and the Tizi n’Tichka pass, where we enjoy the breathtaking views and the wonderful nature. After that, we visit the historic Kasbah of Tilouat and discover its architectural beauty.

Next, we will visit the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a historic fortified village located in the heart of Morocco. This magnificent Kasbah has been listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and has been used as the backdrop for many popular films and TV series. After our visit to the Kasbah, we will move on to Ouarzazate, the gateway to the desert. There, we will spend the night in a comfortable hotel and prepare for the next journey.

Day 2: Ouarzazate - Skoura palm groves - Kasbah Amridil - Wadi El Ward - Wadi Dades

After breakfast, we begin our exploration of Ouarzazate, where we visit the famous Atlas Studios, which has been the setting for many international films. We then move on to the Kasbah of Taourirt, a fortified mud castle that is considered one of the oldest and most magnificent palaces in Morocco.

Afterwards, we head east to visit the Kasbah of Amridil, surrounded by the beautiful palm groves of Skoura. We then continue to the famous Kalaat M’Gouna, where the annual Rose Festival is held in May, where locals showcase their rose products.

In the evening, we drive to the Dades Valley via Boumalne Dades, stopping at unique rock formations, known as the “Monkey’s Fingers”. We then continue to a place higher up the mountain, enjoying dinner and an overnight stay in a comfortable hotel in Boumalne Dades.

Day 2: Ouarzazate - Skoura palm groves - Kasbah Amridil - Wadi El Ward - Wadi Dades

After breakfast, we continue our journey to the Todra Valley, discovering the beauty of nature in a large valley carved by the Todra River. You can enjoy the breathtaking landscapes and the high red mountains.

Then we drive through the beautiful palm groves of Trouj, enjoying nature and fresh air. After lunch on the way, we reach the great Merzouga desert, you can ride camels and enjoy crossing the sandy desert.

In the evening, we enjoy the magical sunset over the high sand dunes, then continue the journey to the luxury desert camp. Berber drum music while dancing around the campfire under a wide open sky of stars. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Day 4: Explore Merzouga area - Velvet Lake Merzouga - Palm Grove

Explore the beauty of the Moroccan desert on an exceptional trip to Merzouga. Start your day by waking up at dawn to witness the sunrise over the sand dunes. Then enjoy a traditional breakfast in a Bedouin tent, where you can learn about the traditions and culture of the Bedouins.

Next, explore an old kohl mine, located in the heart of the desert. Then visit the village of Khamlia, enjoy Gnawa music and traditional dance performances.

In the afternoon, have lunch at a local restaurant, where you can taste traditional Moroccan dishes. Afterwards, explore the palm grove, a green oasis in the heart of the desert.

In the evening, head to the wild Merzouga Lake, which is characterized by its amazing natural beauty. Finally, enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in a comfortable hotel

Day 5 Merzouga Dunes - Erfoud - Midelt - Cedar Forest - Ifrane - Fez

Start your day by enjoying breakfast in the heart of the desert, then embark on an excursion to the city of Rissani, the ancient capital of Tafilalt. Its market is a major commercial center in the region.

Afterwards, go to Erfoud and visit a marble quarry workshop, learn about traditional Moroccan customs. Then continue your journey along the Ziz River, enjoying a panoramic view of the Ziz Valley.

In Midelt, have dinner at a local restaurant, then move to the Cedar Forest, where Barbary macaques live. Do not hesitate to feed them while you wander through the forest.

Afterwards, visit Ifrane, a city with low temperatures, snow and houses with Alpine features. Finally, arrive at your accommodation in Fez

Day 6: Fez City Tour

We welcome you to your stay in Fez After breakfast, you will embark on an exploration tour through the imperial city. You will visit the gate of the Royal Palace, then the old city, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The entrance to the old city is the Blue Gate or Bab Boujloud, where you will enter with a local guide to explore the historical monuments. The visit includes the Bou Inania Madrasa, the Nejjarine Fountain, the Tanneries, and finally the Mosque and University of Al-Qarawiyyin, the oldest university in the world.

Afterwards, we will head to the Jewish quarter “Mellah”, then you will move to an old fort to enjoy panoramic views of the old city and the city of Fez. Then, we return to your riad

Day 7: Fes - Meknes - Volubilis - Chefchaouen

After breakfast, you will explore Meknes, the capital of Ismailia and one of the imperial cities of Morocco. You will visit Bab Mansour, one of the city’s most prominent monuments, and then continue to visit the Basin of the Souani and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail.

Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to have lunch at a local restaurant. You will then continue your journey to Volubilis, where you will visit the ancient Roman ruins, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will explore the beautiful mosaics, columns, and ancient arches.

After touring the ruins, you will continue your journey north through Ouezzane, to reach Chefchaouen, the Blue City in the Rif Mountains. You will explore the city, famous for its blue-painted buildings and alleys. You will spend the night at a hotel in Chefchaouen,

Day 8: Transfer to Tangier Airport

After breakfast, you will enjoy free time to wander the beautiful alleys of the blue city, Chefchaouen, before we continue our journey through the stunning Rif Mountains to reach Tangier. There, you will have the opportunity to explore the city before we transfer you to the airport, where your 8-day Morocco tour comes to an end.
