4-Day Desert and Mountain Tour from Fes

Starting from Fez, our amazing 4-day, 3-night desert tour begins, visiting many amazing places in a short time. First, we’ll visit Ifrane, known as the Switzerland of Morocco, and the picturesque Cedar Forest. Next, we’ll drive to Midelt for lunch, then continue our journey along the stunning Ziz River, where we’ll visit the magnificent Dades and Todra Gorges. The next day, we’ll reach the great Merzouga Desert, where we’ll ride camels and spend the night in a desert camp in the middle of the desert, enjoying magical sunsets and sunrises. We’ll continue our journey in a 4×4 to explore the Sahara Desert, visiting the traditional market of Rissani and the ancient city of Erfoud. Finally, the tour ends in Fez.

Day 1: Fez - Ifrane - Cedar Forest - Midelt - Dades Valleys

Starting in Fez, our amazing 4-day desert trip begins. We’ll drive south through Imouzzer to visit Ifrane, known for its cool climate, snow, and Alpine-style houses, making it known as the Switzerland of Morocco. We’ll then continue to the Cedar Forest, where Barbary macaques live. You’ll be able to feed them while wandering through the forest. Next, we’ll drive to Midelt for lunch, then to Errachidia, where we’ll drive through the Tizi n’Telghemt Pass and along the Ziz River. We’ll visit the Dades Gorges via Boumalne Dades, stopping at the “Monkey Fingers” rock formations. From there, we’ll overlook the Dades Valley from the top of a mountain. Dinner and overnight at a hotel.

Day 2 Dades Gorge - Todgha Gorge - Erfoud - Merzouga Desert - Overnight in a luxury camp

After breakfast, we continue our journey to the magnificent Todra Gorges, where the Todra River cuts its way through the mountains, forming a massive canyon and towering red rocks on the edge of the cliff. You’ll be able to enjoy the breathtaking scenery as you wander between the gorges. Afterwards, we continue our journey through the palm groves of Trouj and Tingdad, where we will have lunch at leisure. In the evening, we reach the Great Merzouga Desert, where we will ride camels and cross the golden sands. We will enjoy a magical sunset atop a high sand massif, then continue to a luxury desert camp. There, we will enjoy Berber drumming and dancing around a campfire under a clear starry sky. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Day 3: Explore the Merzouga region - Velvet Lake Merzouga - Erg Chebbi

Wake up early to witness the magical sunrise in the desert. Enjoy breakfast in a wonderful desert setting, then set off on an excursion to Merzouga. Explore the vast sand dunes, wild lakes, and ancient mines. Visit the village of Khamlia and learn about the indigenous people’s culture. Enjoy Gnawa music and traditional dance performances. Have lunch at a local restaurant, then stroll through a picturesque palm grove. In the evening, admire the wild Merzouga lake and its magnificent flamingos. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 4: Merzouga - Rissani - Erfoud - Ifrane - Fez

After breakfast, we leave the desert and continue our journey to Rissani, the ancient capital of the Tafilalt. We visit the Grand Souk of Rissani, a major trading center in the region, which is particularly active on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. After exploring the souk, we move on to Erfoud, where we visit a petrified marble workshop. We then continue our journey along the Ziz River, where we enjoy panoramic views of the Ziz Valley. Next, we pass through the Cedar Forest and Ifrane to reach Fez, where we transfer you to the airport or your accommodation, concluding our 4-day Morocco itinerary.
